TWO THINGS;

One, I'm not sure if anyone remembers but about a month back I was planning a baby shower for one of my dearest friends. Two weekends ago was finally the day of the party and wow, was I stressed but I had a really fun time putting everything together and it turned out absolutely perfect! I have over 100 photos but I didn't want to overload so here are a few cute and crafty things I put together that I wanted to show all of my readers..if I even have any left..I know I haven't posted much lately I've just been busy as usual and I'm sorrrryy!

Anddd two, recently I found a wonderful and amazing website called invisiblechildren.com ..if anyone has a chance, check it out. The war in Uganda is the longest running war in history and also the most neglected, especially by the United States which hurts my heart just to say. Innocent children in Africa have been abducted and held hostage used as soldiers to fight in this terrible war. Because of numerous attacks on Uganda the government has formed concentration camps for it's citizens attempting to protect them from future raids. Unfortunately the camps are so overcrowded that disease runs rapid resulting in thousands of deaths and orphaned children. Poverty, malnutrition, terror and starvation is the only way of living that the citizens of Uganda know and invisible children is such an incredible and innovative non profit program here to change that forever. Please have it in your hearts to visit their website and make a donation or volunteer in your community to help save lives ♥

Today is my only day off this week and I couldn't have asked for more beautiful weather. This morning I did a little shopping at Trader Joe's and then spent the rest of the afternoon in my bikini soaking up all the rays I could get on my roof top deck. I love it up there, the view of lake michigan is beautiful and I love staring at all the buildings from the 20th floor, it's really amazing. I got some much needed color that I've been craving for quite some time! Tonight I'm coloring my hair jet black and then it's sushi night with my two of my best girlfriends! I can hardly wait, if I had it my way I would probably eat sushi every day of the week for the rest of my life, it's just that delicious. Then were gunna pop a bottle of sweet riesling, enjoy the nightlife of the city and take it from there. I hope everyone had a fun weekend and I hope you're all enjoying your Mondays as much as I, if not..there's always tomorrow! Take care lovies :)

Busy As A Bee

Well well, look who finally had a moment to do a post! I can't believe I'm saying this but I'm a tad bit excited for winter to come back so I'll have more time to focus on less tiring things such as blogging for instance, and painting and so much more. I'm working six nights a week now and very very late nights so I'm a little spent to say the least. Well, in other news I have a tan at last and I'm also starting a detox diet, or at least trying my hardest to..it's really difficult for me. I don't have the best discipline with myself when it comes to eating and working out. I go through phases where I'll eat healthy and take my ass to the gym for months straight and then all of a sudden I lose it..I go in for the kill, a big juicy blue cheeseburger with bacon and waffle fries and then it's done..I will eat pretty crappy for the next couple weeks and then the cycle repeats itself all over again. I wonder if this is normal?

Anywho it's time for a shower and some lunch. Above are a few things (& people) that I love so very much, they inspire me :)

Photoshop Fun

Messing around in photoshop a bit today & this is what i came up with. Trying to figure out what i'm gunna fill the rest of the left side with, it's a little blah to me, idk. I kind of like the simplicity though, we'll see. How has everyone's weekend been so far? Yesterday I went to the theatre with a friend and seen xmen which was incredible, everyone should see that movie it's most definitely worth the money. Not like it costs a whole lot in the first place to go to the theatre but i usually end up waiting for most movies to come out on video. I also ate some really delicious sushi for dinner. We ordered the strawberry fields roll which i had to have because it's named after one of the greatest songs in the world creating by one of the greatest bands in the world. That's about as exciting as my weekend gets since tonight i have work and tomorrow i'm spending with my momma. Better luck next week. Hope everyone's enjoying the beautiful weather, i know i am..warmth AT LAST.

I think I just fell in love. Everything about this small and uniquely designed resort located in sunny California screams perfection in my eyes. I am simply dying to room at this fantasy getaway over the summer. Is this every girl's dream or what? Literally, these pictures look like they were taken straight out of a Disney movie! Starting today I plan on stashing some extra cash every week into my savings account for my weekend fairy tale experience. The Madonna Inn truly knows how to pamper it's guests with exquisite decor, dining and exceptional attention to detail in every aspect imaginable. I mean pink sugar... c'mon is this place for real? Indeed, it is and one day it will be my reality! My trip will be filled with pool side tanning and a relaxing spa day, hot air balloon rides and pairsailing, breakfast buffets and champagne brunch, castle tours and wine tastings & soo much more! I am itching with excitement...California here we come!

It's a very gloomy day here in the city and finally i can take a second to breathe. I've been out of control busy the past few weeks and unable to post because of all the crazy things taking up my free time. Due to this nasty thunderstorm outside my window it leaves me with very little to do other than surf the net and create pretty collages in photoshop all day long. I am perfectly content with that. I am in dire need of a day of some good old fashioned r&r.

On another note, i am in the middle of planning my best friend's baby shower and WOW, i cannot believe how much work it is. Don't get me wrong, i am not kidding when i say i truly believe that i am martha stewart's long lost second cousin, twice removed but holy shit..the amount of planning, preparation, searching for the best price quotes, shopping, diy craft projects & so much more is really taking a toll on my mental stability. When she asked me to host her shower i was more than ecstatic, i mean can you imagine? Me and planning things sort of go hand in hand. I'm a bit of a control freak, and by that I mean an ocd organized perfectionist to the max. So in my mind if things don't turn out perfectly as planned I might end up losing a screw or two and for that, i am scared..haha. But it's all in good fun. Honestly, when i put all the craziness aside I really am having fun putting the whole thing together and making it absolutely beautiful for my best friends baby! I'm going to post some pictures soon that i've been using for inspiration for the shower. Hopefully everyone will like it, the theme is "Whimsical Garden" ...so freakin adorable, i can't even take it.

Well, anywho I hope everyone has been doing well. I know i haven't exactly been the best blogger lately but i'm working on it! I plan to spend the rest of today visiting your blogs & leaving sweet comments so don't give up hope on me yet. I just need to get a little caught up is all. Oh & for those of you that are wondering I have been avidly looking for shelters that have bunnies available for adoption. Now that i've had time to think about it & look over your comments i realize that adoption is a much better choice for me. There are so many poor little animals stuck in cages without a place to call home & i would much rather save them then shell out tons of money just for a baby from a breeder. Thanks for the advice lovies :)

I can hardly wait for the weekend. Sorry for the lack of posting lately but all my time has been taken up by work and my a-z photo project that I started last week for my portfolio. I will make a real post veryyy soon but in the meantime isn't this fuzzy tailed baby bunny the most adorable little thing you've ever laid your eyes on? I've really been in search of a good holland lop breeder in Chicago but no such luck thus far. I even visited the animal shelter in hopes of finding one for adoption but they had NO bunnies. Can you believe it? I'll keep my hopes up but honestly, I think I may have to order one from a breeder outside the state and either have it delivered or take a vacation there and plan to pick it up while I'm visiting, like to the dells for a weekend getaway?! That could be fun. Honestly though, isn't he the cutest? I could just eat him up, er..not literally but you get the point ;)

Celebrity Beach Bodies & Summertime Blues

I am seriously dying for the springtime air to swoop in on me and replace this long cold bitter chicago winter. So much in fact that I found myself googling such things like "caribbean islands" and "bathing suit trends for 2009" this morning when I woke up to find nothing but rain and blustery wind outside my bedroom window. I've been in a bit of a funk feeling much less inspired than usual these days and I knew some much needed time for daydreaming of summertime swimsuits was just what the doctor ordered. I simply CAN NOT wait until the day I can throw on some flip flops and a cover up, walk myself to the beach and lie carelessly with my toes in the sand soaking up the rays. I miss those days, the lazy days. Summer night adventures, bonfires, fireworks, festivals..LOLLAPALOOZA! All of it. I'm in dire need of a weekend vacation if winter decides to run it's course another two months. I'm not exactly sure I can hold out for that long. In the meantime I suppose I'll order my victoria secret swimsuits online and wait rather impatiently for their arrival. At least when the package does come in I can try them on and lay in the middle of my carpeted living room floor pretending that my ceiling fan is the sweet warm wind and the lightbulbs are my imaginary sun. I'm debating which one(s) I'll purchase this year but to completely honest I usually end up buying anywhere between 2-4 bathing suits a year anyways so I might as well save myself the trouble and get them all. I especially love the pink embellished one piece, that's a definite must have and the mint green two piece is very different from any other suit that I own so that's a winner as well. If anything I might skip the black one. I already own two black ones and although the style is pretty different than mine I have to think realistically. It's not like these are cheap! I guess I've just made up my mind then haven't I? How about some advice, I could really use it ;)

I really miss the days when Lindsay Lohan didn't look as if she hadn't slept in weeks due to binge drinking and snorting coke off toilet seats in bathroom stalls. I can't even remember how long ago that was so for a friendly little reminder I sometimes flip through my December 2008 issue of Harper's Bazaar to take me back to the good old days. I'm kidding of course. Lindsay was hardly practicing good-girl habits less than four months ago but it certainly looks as if she cleaned up her act for a hot minute thanks to this shoot by Terry Richardson. So clean, in fact that her outfits inspired me to start web hunting for similar pieces that I can incorporate into my own wardrobe. Not exactly what I would call perfect but close enough to pull off the same look and cheap enough to not burn a gargantuan hole in my pocket. There's already a decent sized one shredding at the very bottom of my rock and republic's as we speak and now is definitely not the right time in my life to increase it's volume. NYC based designer Elise Overland showcased her fall 2009 collection this February 14th at the drive-in studios. I have to ask myself why I haven't posted these earlier. To be honest I haven't the slightest idea. Photos with this magnitude of brilliance definitely do not belong sitting in a documents folder. Therefore I provide you with a bit of daily eye candy for your viewing pleasure :)

I love the amazing array of vibrant colors and textures Elise incorporates into her pieces this season. All the little details are just as lovely as well, such as the super chic zipper embellishments and pyramid studded leather gloves. I would kill for the metallic purple lambskin blazer.

"Shimmer" was apparently the shows theme says Overland who was inspired by a cook book about japanese sushi given to her by a friend, Alexander Rower. Elise was also quoted saying that she was going for, "the sophisticated rock & roll badass princess look" She most certainly hit it right on the head with that one, don't you think?

Thinking About Inking

Lately I've been spending the majority of my free time daydreaming about my next tattoo. I know that there's a large chunk of people out there that are disgusted by tattooing, however, i think of it as a beautiful form of art and self expression. The idea of getting a feather permanently inked on my body first came from an inspiring latin proverb, allis volat propriis. Translated into english it means...

"she flies with her own wings"

I find this quote absolutely beautiful & very meaningful to my own life. To me it symbolizes a sense of independence & strength. Strength to stand out from a crowd and be able to have the confidence to proudly say.."yes, not only am I a unique individual but I am also strong enough to depend on myself. I don't feel the need to rely on others and I am a leader rather than a follower, i fly with my own wings!" Initially I planned on getting a bird but I just think it's so common and cliche. My search began and ended almost simultaneously when I immediately ran into a picture on the web of Erin Wasson in Flair magazine. Oh My Gah. It was love at first site. I knew then that a tattoo of a feather definitely had to fit somewhere into my near future. Now my only dilemma seems to be the placement. I honestly can't decide where I should put it. I'm so confused. I am loving the behind the ear look but I already have two wrist tattoos and I'm not completely sure if I want another one so visible..in plain sight. This is where you come in. I should have gotten a close up of the shoe's details but you get the idea. The arm jewelry (not exactly sure one would call it jewelry) Lagerfeld created is TO DIE for. Where does he come up with this stuff? Honestly.

YES. I finally got my Macbook Pro over the weekend and I am beyond ecstatic. I've been playing around with photobooth for hours, I just can't get enough. I've been lusting after this laptop since it's release date & now it's in the palm of my own hands. I still haven't taken it all in yet. I sound like a nerdy little geek and I don't give a damn, I love electronics. I'm going to teach myself acoustic guitar with garage band once I get around to actually buying a guitar. Haha, baby steps.

Yesterday night I went to the theatre with a friend & seen "He's Just Not That Into You" ...soo cute, definately a must see. I love how Gigi & Alex end up together in the end. I hope one day I can be someone's exception, rather than the rule.

AH! I've been so busy lately that I haven't made a single post in over a week & I apologize. My boyfriend and I broke up and I've been in constant search of a new job which is very discouraging due to our economy, no one, and I mean NO ONE seems to be hiring. I should just be grateful that I have a job at all but I enjoy keeping myself constantly busy and I need the extra cash right now so I thought I could juggle two. We'll see what happens..

In the meantime I've been imagining in my head what my dream home would look like if I ever struck gold! One of my biggest goals in life is to buy a beautiful vintage victorian-like house and completely rennovate it from the ground up to my liking. The pictures below are just a few out of many more that I have saved for inspiration when the time finally comes to transform my dreams into reality..

Well hello! Greetings from my my big comfy couch where I intend to spend a majority of my day considering there's a not so appealing blizzard outside my window and I'm practically snowed in. I loved all of your comments on my last post, comments make me happy..i read each and every one and smile gratefully that I know there's other like minded people who share the same interests as myself out there in the world. Since were on the subject of myself I noticed that I was tagged by the lovely miss deanna over at Tea For Two which is one of my favorite bloggers that I visit on a daily basis. So here's a few random things about yours truly. Maybe we share something in common?! Let me hear it, i'd love to know ...

I live in the windy city of Chicago in a vintage highrise across the sreet from a Barney's and on the same street as my favorite cupcake bakery Sarah's Pastries. What more can a girl ask for?

I feel most at peace when I'm lying on a sandy beach on a warm summer day listening to the waves crashing against the shoreline.

A very large majority of my favorite movies are directed by the uber talented Tim Burton such as Big Fish and Sweeny Todd.

I was born on May 24th which makes me a Gemini and yes I believe in astrology. I'm still searching for my other half. Where are you?!

Sometimes I feel like I'm connected to butterflies. Like I was a beautiful Aphrodite in my past life fluttering so carelessly through vast fields of colorful lillies and sweet smelling daisey's!

Other times I feel completely disconnected from actual people, even my friends and family & unintentionally shut them out.

Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day. Mmmm..bacon and friend eggs, how can I resist?

My three biggest passions in life are fashion, art and photography. I'm struggling to decide which path I'll follow to pursue my career.

I have an unhealthy obsession with vampires. If I had the choice I wouldn't even stop to think twice about turning to the dark side. Creepy huh?

I would like to say that my favorite color is orange because currently that's how I feel, but it changes so often I can hardly keep up. Maybe black because it's so neutral and that's the color I wear most often but who knows! Depends on my mood.

I love the idea of a pastel colored Christmas! A baby pink tree with soft blue and sparkly silver ornaments is something I would most definitely love to try out for myself this year! Here's a few of my flickr faves that are currently inspiring me...

When I was leaving work last night I exited through the hotel lobby and saw this Andy Warhol inspired exhibit. My iPhone obviously doesn't take the highest quality of pictures but I had to work with what was available at the time. It was 100 times better to look at in person but I thought I would post the pictures anyways. I probably should have brightened them in Photoshop but I'm feeling a bit lazy today.

FABULOUS FASHION FINDS

I was browsing through Elle.com today and stumbled upon these fabulous fashion finds. Pictured first are a pair of stunning stilettos from Christian Dior's huate couture line, offered in black or grey. They're beautiful to look at but I couldn't imagine walking in them, or should I say I couldn't imagine myself walking in them. Owning them, yes..balancing without falling flat on my face, another story. I'm a clumsy girl.

Next is Versace's pink cotton candy colored mink clutch. This one's a jaw dropper and unfortunately completely out of my reach. "Price upon request." Yeah, we all know what that means. I'm on the hunt for a replica. I'm gunna search iOffer later on and see what I can find!

And last but certainly not least is the black patent leather and tan suede clutch from Yves Saint Lauren. I'm in love with the zipper embelishments and it's creative wave . Pure genius!

Coming up with crafty and innovative ways to decorate cupcakes has become a huge trend over the last decade and women everywhere are taking notice. It's almost surprising that it's taken us this long to figure it out. I mean really, what's not to love about these delicious confections? They're adorable, easy to personalize, portable and half the amount of calories you would consume from eating a giant piece of your favorite double layered chocolate fudge cake! Bakeries specializing in just cupcakes have popped up in nearly every metropolitan city and are continuing to grow. This is a trend to surely put a smile on any one's face :)

I'm not gunna lie, in my personal opinion I think these miniature lollipop cupcake bites are the cutest cupcake creation I've ever laid my eyes on! I'm a huge fan! They have a modern feel and unique innovative twist. I think they'd be awesome wedding favors or something of the sorts, used at parties for entertaining or also for...well, every day eating as well of course! Whatever floats your boat...but I'm definitely gunna try to make these, then post pictures of my own! Yes.

I had almost forgotten my love for pyramid studs until I recently stumbled upon a pair of these adorably fascinating baby pink rocker-esque ballet flats on Mega's Blog. They immediately caught my attention..I believe..because of their obvious femininity combined with their punk like edge. Seeing these beauties immediately sparked a surge of inspiration to seek out similar pieces to add to my wardrobe. Although I was successful in my hunt I could hardly afford half the items that I found but hey, a girl can dream right? Tonight's the night! Some friends and I have a table reservation at Crimson Lounge in Hotel Sax for Sam Ronson's DJ set starting at 10pm. I'm so pumped, it's gonna be off the hook! Last time LILO made an appearance & I almost would have caught a glimpse if it wasn't for her posse crowding around her like a pack of wild hienas. Crimson's a great place that I truly love to go from time to time but the security has gotten down hard on letting people in lately so we decided putting our names on the guest list was a wiser choice. Bottles for our table could potentially burn a giant hole in my pocket so i'm crossing my fingers that everyone shows up and pitches in for the tab. Not sure what I'm wearing exactly but I have a feeling it's a legging & louboutin kinda night. Anyway, off for my mani and pedi. Cheers!

I've been following Gwen Stefanie for as long as I can remember. As soon as I was old enough to begin developing my own personal style I can recall mindlessly flipping through pictures upon pictures of her on the Internet, in magazines and anything else I could get my hands on. Her eclectic fashion sense and rock star attitude immediately caught my attention not only through her music when she was the lead vocalist for No Doubt but also through her street style and bright pink candy colored hair. Now flashing forward 10 years later and still she remains the ultimate icon for millions of girls across the globe. When Gwen first released her L.A.M.B collection in 2004 it was love at first sight. Incredibly crafted silhouettes along with rocker chic stilettos and creative patterns, she takes art and innovation to a new level with her amazing line. I could only dream of having that sort of talent! What I love most about L.A.M.B is that it's extraordinarily unique and practical all at the same time. Her personality shines through her pieces and she's not afraid to take a risk. Gwen makes designing a fashion label seem so effortless!

Above all, I would have to say that the stilletos she's created are my absolute favorite. Well I suppose I should start by introducing myself. My name is Mandi and I'm an aspiring photographer/artist/designer living in the windy city of Chicago. I'm 22 years old and I'm a strong believer in self love & following your heart. I believe that the most important person in your life is you and therefore you should live your life to the fullest for yourself and not for the sake of pleasing others. Being a unique, eccentric individual is very special in a world full of ordinary robots. Embracing your differences & even your faults will set you apart from the rest and instill pride, confidence and a sense of freedom like you've never experienced before.

I believe in passion and adventure, happiness and love. I believe in standing up for what you believe in & I believe in change. Taking advantage of the ability you have to change yourself for the better is something that people will often cringe at the thought of hearing. But taking time out for self improvement and personal growth will lead you into a healthier more satisfying, rewarding life.

I like to think of myself as a caterpillar forever evolving into a beautiful butterfly. I'm constantly working on improving myself and filling my time with new & interesting hobbies. I love life and live to the fullest every day...there's never a dull moment!
